Directions to Double M Ranch

These directions are for people traveling from the North, heading south on Hwy 17 from Interstates 10 & 20. Please let us know if you are coming from the west (El Paso) and we will supply different directions. 

The Double M Guest Ranch is nine miles north of Ft. Davis on Hwy 118N

From Balmorhea, you will arrive in Ft. Davis on Highway 17 south. 

From Ft. Davis, head North on Highway 118 nine miles towards the McDonald Observatory.  You will pass the Davis Mountain State Park on the left (3 miles out).  Next you will see the Prude Ranch on your right (another 2 miles).  Our front gate is almost exactly 4 miles from Prude Ranch. 

Two miles from the Prude Ranch entrance you will see a large housing community on your right (Limpia Crossing).  You will come past a mountain on your right that serves as the northern boundary of Limpia Crossing.  Just past the mountain and around the curve, look for a wooden fence on your right, with iron gates containing two horse heads.  The sign says "Sunrise Stable".  KEEP GOING!

Proceed 500 yards past Sunrise Stable entrance to the Sunrise Ranch gate.  This gate says "Sunrise Ranch" in large letters. You may also note a bicycle wheel with reflectors on it, on the fence next to the Sunrise Ranch gate. On the fence you will also see a wooden sign for the Double M Guest Ranch.

You will see a Realtor’s key storage lock box on the gate (call for combination).  Use the key inside the lock box to unlock the gate (top outside lock).  Return key to the lock box; another key is inside your room.  Pull Left on the handle to open the gate. 

Proceed straight through the gate, close the gate and drive 1/2 mile.  Take a right turn through another gate just before the cattle pens. Proceed through this gate, up the hill 1/2 mile.  The log home is our house.  Park on the pavement closest to the house.  The Getaway Suite is the second door around the right side of the large metal building.  Please enter and make yourself at home.

The ranch is perfect for walking, hiking, bird watching, star gazing or just sitting on the porch!  You will have access to a gas or charcoal grill.  Linens, shampoo, soap and kitchen cookware and coffee are provided.  There is a small grocery store in town, Porter's, that provides the basics.  If you have special dietary needs we suggest bringing those items with you.  The suite has a small library of videos and DVDs, DISH TV cable, satellite Internet and a telephone.  The suite shares a phone line with the house and the number is 432-426-2473.  You will need a credit card to make long distance calls; cellular service is limited.
